I recently ordered a bungee chair from The Container Store. The color I chose is backordered, so I'm hoping to get it soon. I've been using a folding chair which has been fine...but the bungee chair was on sale and I've been redoing my quilting room, so I decided to go for it.

I use an exercise ball- it's great for your core muscles, moves away naturally when you stand up and it's always comfortable for me. Price is great too - we can buy them for around $10-$20 just about anywhere. There is one drawback in that you have to be careful around pins. I've been using one for more than 4 years and no punctures (yet)!

I was using a kitchen table chair and then a folding chair for years. Just bought a Horn chair last month - LQS had a sale. It was the best buy I could make. Love it. Sewing is much more comfortable. The wheels are great. I love to just sit it when I crochet or knit and watch TV.

Most important thing - try it out. The store also had Koala and another brand. All were basically same price - but the Horn fit my body the best.

Every summer, my local Koala dealer has floor models on sale. I've bought two over past two years and keep one at my SM, one at my quilting machine and when making garments, wheel it to my serger cabinet. Most comfortable chair ve ever used. I have a lo of lower back pain and they have great lumbar support and are fully adjustable.

I need a new chair also....mine no longer gives me the lumbar support I need. Making too many trips to the chiropractor...would rather invest in a new chair.

I'm using office chairs purchased at garage sales, etc. Have one that the seat adjustment broke... so, I purchased a cushion made for wheel chairs, works great now. Brings me to the right height. Guess you could use a square of foam for a cushion or an old pillow. Also, for another chair, I've added a pillow for my lower back.

So much depends on your height, the height of the table and machine, the type of flooring (ease is moving about) that it is really a personal thing. I'm short so most chairs are too high for me. I found one at Ikea that is just right for me but others might think it uncomfortable. It took a lot of sitting on chairs before I found the right one.
