Sewing Chairs?? Ideas

I have one of the bungie chairs from container store and I love it. Several of my friends got them also and are happy. Just something else to try, when I first saw these my BF and I just started laughing then the sales girl came over and convinced us to try them. We both got one

When I worked in insurance we had an ergonomic specialist and since the desks could not be lowered the shorted people had to use a chair higher than they should so we had special foot rests made for them so it would be ergonomically correct. Being 5'9" I never had that problem, but the new restaurants that have those high tables and chairs are so uncomfortable for me, so I can only imagine what it is like for others.

I just purchased a new office chair a few days ago at Office Depot. I too am only 5' tall so the ability to lower the seat far enough to allow me to plant my feet firmly on the floor was important. I went to the store and tried them all ... of about 20 chairs only 3 adjusted low enough for my height.
The chair I chose is a WorkPro quantum 9000. It has mesh seat and back (which I wanted), adjustable height, adjustable arms (two ways, height and swivel in-out, they can also be removed), adjustable seat back height (for lumbar position), adjustable seat back tilt, and adjustable seat depth (closeness to seat back). The other nice thing is that when the seat back tilts, the seat does not - so even tilted all the way back my feet are still firmly planted on the floor. I really can't think of any further adjustments I would want to make to a chair than this one doesn't already have.
Assembly was easy.

I ended up buying a drafting stool from Office Max for only $109.00. The height is right. It will not be used on a daily basis for long hours of sewing. Just for my occasional serging use and access to the higher counter top work surface. Eventually i would love a really nice sewing chair but for now, my 14 year old chair from Staples is still in great shape! The mfgr is no longer in business....i tried to buy another one a few years ago. Best $150.00 spent at the time!

I have recently purchased two of the "Saddle Chairs" from Biz Chair.com. One (is taller) for sitting on the front side of my longarm and one that is shorter for my regular machines. I love them! I found out about them from my quilter and longarm friends that had purchased them. So far I love It, I am presently waiting on my shorter one.They adjust height wise as well as seat tilt and etc. and they even have free shipping as of when I ordered it,believe it is still. Also you can choose to get the carpet wheels or hard floor wheels, one cost just a tad more than the other.
My back LOVES it too!! From what I understand they are better for longer periods of sitting they condition your back. I would never go back to a regular chair, I paid$109.00 for the shorter one and $119.00 For the taller one no shipping.

Last week I was near a Container Store and made it a point to sit in a bungee chair. Very comfortable. I am 5'2" and it felt perfect. I have some good chairs at home so didn't get it, but, if I ever need one I will.
