I'd probably give her extra cash or a gift card. Give her the quilt next Christmas if you are still going to her.

I'm aware of that. They are not dating. Not everything in this world is about money or time invested. I don't put a monetary value on many things I do for others. I give to, or do for them, because I want to.

If no one ever did something out of generosity or kindness, there would be a lot more unhappiness in this world. Look at the news. Total strangers are paying off Lay-a-way accounts for people they have never met! She knows this girl, perhaps not for a long time, but so what! If she wants to give her something she knows would make her happy and if she is in a position to do it, then she should give her the quilt.

I wouldn't give her a quilt. Give her a nice tip of money, gift wrapped of course, and let her buy something she really wants. I agree with another reader that she was probably just trying to keep the conversation going.

I agree with those who said to give it to her in person. I don't think just dropping it off is a good idea.

Charlee sums up my feelings. Give one and let it go. Also do not feel obligated to do something similar the year after. I would also not give it as a Christmas gift but give it as a gift.

Folks give quilts to others that they have never met (charity quilts, QOV quilts, etc.) and have no qualms about the cost when they give it, nor do they ever know if the quilt was really appreciated.
I say, if it makes you feel good to give her the quilt, then do it in person so she can thank you properly! I think it's very sweet of you to want to share with her!

If I felt I wanted to give her a quilt I would do it. I donate lap quilts to the VA, quilts for children, why not give one to someone you know. I don't feel money should be an issue, if you feel you want her to have it.

That's always a quandary for me, too. I do a LOT of baking for Christmas. Last year I gave my hairdresser, who was fairly new to me, a sampling of my baking. She never even told me she liked it. My only concern for you is, what will she expect next year, or what will you feel you have to give her.

I agree with Sadiemae to give her the quilt after Christmas. How very sweet of you to do this, I am sure she will love it.

A quilt is a very extravagant gift for someone that has only done your hair 2 times...it is up to you...but maybe something smaller this year....and then maybe the quilt if you want to next year.
