I am one person. It seems that I get it backwards most of the time, so I gave up on it.

My first piece was in a classso I was taught how. then it became very relaxing and fun. I love paper piecing and the exactness of it.

I had an intro to pp class at my local quilt shop about a year ago and loved it but went back to piecing. Recently I joined the quilt store's civil war club because they are making the farmer's wife sampler quilt this year with the option of using paper piecing patterns. Other than having some difficulty with assembling all the small sections into the finished block I am having a ball and making great progress. The blocks are time consuming and you end up with a lot of scraps, but if I didn't paper piece I'm not sure my limited quilting experience would get me through all the small pieced blocks. I guess I am very surprised that not more of the seasoned quilters that I admire have tried paper piecing before now.

Hand raised and waving here. I think my mind just doesn't work the way paper piecing should :-(

After I retired, I took 2 classes: first was how to make a rag quilt, second covered four simply blocks. Then a daughter who was pregnant asked if I would make a crib quilt for her. Sure, I said. She picked out a PP little duck pattern by Carol Doak. Then sent me the fabric (she was in Denver, I was near Austin.) Tone on tone white, pales: pink, yellow & green. Then the kicker came: I'd really like to have some chenille in it, too! Oh my, what have I bitten off?! So each little ducky has chenille included as a tail feather! Then, one week after 9-11, I boarded a plane to Denver, binding pinned on. With a layover, I was able to work on it. Then boarded the plan & worked some more. Several quilters were seated around me, so they helped! By the time I reached the hospital, our grandbaby was 3 hours old. Now, 11, she still likes her quilt! I'm so ready to do some more PP! I really enjoyed it.
