I've done a search on this, but can't find anything. I've given up on my Tin Lizzie bobbin winder and want to purchase a stand alone one. It needs to wind the large size M bobbins, so the inexpensive ones that Joann's sells won't work.
There are several brands I'm looking at: Corgi, Gammil and this 'no brand':

Any recommendations?

The reason why I'm considering one is that I've tried several times to adjust the winder on my machine. A good bobbin winds with 10 to 20 extra yards that I need to unwind & pitch. A bad wind will also wind thread around the spindle. If I adjust it per the website, I get a half wound bobbin. I like the idea of winding the bobbin while stitching, but then you need to buy 2 spools of thread. If I just wind a bobbin, it bothers me that the machine is still 'stitching', you can't disengage the sewing head.

I just bought the wrights deluxe sidewinder and it holds the M bobbins and the cones. Got my tin lizzie 18 used and no bobbin winder so had to find something that would work

You can get a 'professional' one from Handiquilter - the sort that comes with one of their longarms.

I have one that came with my Gammill that I love. Mine is not exactly the same as the one in the picture, but similar. I had a bit of trouble winding a bobbin nicely and consistently. Someone on my Gammill group suggested a lamp dimming cord. You use it like an extention cord, but there is a small adjuster. You can make the bobbin wind as fast or as slow as you want. Now I MUNCH down on the power foot..and it only goes THAT fast.

I got my stand alone M sized bobbin winder when I got my HQ. Then I got a special cord from my sew & vac store that has a pedal so I can change the speed of the winder.

It may take me awhile but I'll PM you if I can find one of the newer easier to regulate bobbin winders for the M bobbins. My local HQ dealers had them.

I got one with the purchase of my Innova, but I don't think it is sold separately. It has a speed control already on it.

I also have had problems winding a bobbin while quilting, and I agree, what a mess. I usually prewind my bobbins before I start quilting, and I usually do 4-5 at a time. I know we are supposed to be able to do it while we quilt with the TL, but, for me, it just isn't happening. Perhaps another TL owner will give use some sage advise.

i have a nolting and love their bobbin winder have had no problems and i have m size bobbins theirs is higher in price than the one in the link.

This is an easy fix. I have a Tin Lizzie, too, but I like to wind a few bobbins before I start my project so I do not use the self winder on the Tin Lizzie. I have the Simplicity Wrights Side Winder (I bought it at Joann's) and then I just bought a tall cheap thread stand (at Koann's) to set the cone of thread on and then just run the thread to the side winder. This is the same way as if you would have a big sppol of thread that you would put on a tall thread stand to thread it to your sewing machine. PM me if you have more questions on this--but it works very simple and it is what I have always used to wind my bobbons. Hope this helps you.
