I use Valdani thread and like it. As for lint...don't care if it makes lint or not. You just have to clean your machine more often if it's linty and less often if it doesn't. What I am interested in is the strength, stretchiness (whatever that term is) whether they use one long thread or joined the thread on the cones with a Knot. That one reallly bugs me.I've had the "better thread" have more than one knot in the spool. I don't buy those again.

I mostly use the Coats and Clark, large spools sold at Joanns when they are on sale. I have even handquilted with them. The only STID I do is with a decorative stitch so something shows.

I love the King Tut from Superior threads, YLI, both of which are a 40 weight or a little heavier thread. I also use Signiture thread on my mid arm and its a 50 weight, same weight I use for piecing. I wouldn't use a varigated thread for SID where it isn't going to show because the varigated is always more expensive. Save it for where it will show.

Hi, MadQuilter, Does this work well for you? I seem to remember that you are a Pfaff person. I have a 1471 and Coats and Clark works fine in her - BUT (are you ready for this????) my husband just got me the Creative Vision (EEEEEEEEEEKKKKK) for my birthday, and I wonder if you know if C&C will cause me (or my new baby) any indigestion problems. I'm having a ball stretching my brain with the CV, but have not tackled embroidery yet. I'm scared to death, yet dying to at the same time!
Any words of wisdom???

and the 12 wt cotton from Sulky is beatiful used to quilt the tops....

Why spend the extra $ and then not have it show....

The surpentine stitch is wonderfull like Aorlflood and another dose and myself included.

I use it a lot and love it. It blends well and the results on the back are great. I think the brand I have is Coats & Clark but it could be something else.
