Whatever is soothing to you. A light color will make the room seem a little bigger, and may give more accurate colors to your fabrics.

I had a small sewing room in another house I once lived in --- it was painted a very pale buttery yellow, with white trim, the closet doors and room door were also white as well as the window covering. I loved it and will do the same color when I move into my forever home.

I would keep with the palest of shades of what ever you decide on. The color can effect your fabric shades unless your match them up in some nature light.

In addition to quilting, my studio is used for my oil painting. Therefore, the walls are as white as I can get them, and I have 6 full-spectrum fluorescent light fixtures on the ceiling with one above each of three workstations - and NO WINDOWS. With this setup, the colors of fabric and paint stay the same 24 hrs a day through every season. These old eyes need all the help they can get! Even without sunny windows, the music is divine!

From everybody's comment, it comes down to personal choice, and what environment you want.

I have sage green walls and find it very relaxing.

I hardly ever even look at the walls. When I pause, I look out the windows. One day a while back, someon knocked on my window. It was a humminbird demanding that I refill the feeder. With me and my stuff, there isn't room for anyone else in here. DH and my dog come to the door to check up on me.

White- use your quilts/fabric as highlighters. Have fun whatever you choose.

I have a pale buttery yellow and all my trim is white. I find it cheerful, relaxing and "clean". Not that it's really clean when I'm in the middle of a project, LOL.

White, then you have good light reflection and all your quilt colours stand out.
