Default What needle for FMQ on flannel sandwich?

I have a flannel top and flannel back with Legacy cotton batting (bernina 450). I've SID around borders and blocks and am now doing a few FMQ feathers within the blocks. Using Aurifil 50 wt thread. Right now I am using a universal 90/14 needle as well as a Supreme Slider but it still seems to be tough to move around. Also the top thread seems to break more often. Quilt is supported on the side and front so no quilt drag that way. Tried using a jeans needle but that was almost worse. Any suggestions? I can muscle through but my arms are going to be sore!
