Why do the binding by hand?

I sew mine to the back, then flip and sew it on the front. I either use a straight stitch, or a decorative one.
My hands couldn't take it. And I want my quilts to be done in a timely fashion! :)

I always do the hand sewn binding, I like the looks of it. I don't care for machine sewn binding at all, I've seen some quilts with machine sewn binding on some beautiful quilts, that some really good quilters made, but I really didn't care for the looks of it.

Why do the binding by hand?
Because I love the look of it.
I enjoy doing the french fold binding (sewing to the front, flip it around and hand stitch in place on the back). To me it's clean, it's fresh and it's a nice way to end your journey with the quilt.
I get to sit for an hour and just relax, looking at the different colours, thinking of where this quilt will be going...etc. I try to take as much are with the binding as I do throughout the entire quilt, it's not a race or something to be rushed through to get it done.
It may sound whimsical but it's a way to say goodbye to my quilt.
Because I love the look of it.
