Hello to all. Sorry I haven't been online. Went back to NY for my mom's memorial and all the emotional things that go along with it. Alot of family time.
When my two teen grandchildren want to spend time with us - I am there! Had over three weeks with them in our motorhome while on Long Island. Our 11 yo spent time with us and we took her into NYC.
Then we went to Maine - met up with two college friends that we haven't seen in years! We are now outside of Ocean City MD with our 7yo grandaughter. I love getting to spend quality time with each one and making memories.
After next week we will be moving slowly west. We have an RV rally in Nevada in September and then head back to AZ to recoup! Needless to say I haven't done much sewing and miss "my time". I did work with the 15yo and went through cutting out a pattern and sewing it all together. Each year she picks something to work on.
Will get back online more often - I hope.
PS - we did stop in PA and went to Burkholder Fabrics. DH said it was the largest quilting fabric he recalls. He waited patiently!

Hi all. I've missed you. So much for having time after returning from my trip. It looks like some of you have been VERY productive with your candies. I have to laugh though.... This is my first escapade with candies so I have one tiny box with candies leftover from cutting for this exchange. I am eagerly awaiting my birthday so I have more, lol. In the meantime, I am working on my BOOM blocks when time allows. I have none complete but I am having fun figuring out how to do English Paper Piecing. If it works out the way I want it to, I'll show you all. Not for the faint of heart....

Sorry for quoting such an old post (# 8 or 9 on this thread), but I just wanted to say thanks for sharing so many awesome ideas for using 2.5" scrappy squares - these quilts are lovely and unique and they are so cohesive in spite of (or because of) their scrappiness. I am learning so much here and am feeling inspired to try some new ideas. Thanks to everyone for your generous spirits.

Gemm, thank you to making use of our ideas. Keep popping in now and again for even MORE new ideas. Would love to have you join us in next year's Birthday Swap. It is fun, easy and a friendly group of scrap square users. Watch for our sign up in January.

All, I sent Gemm a little note of welcome and received a lovely little note back. She is new and has a minimum stash and wants to lurk for a while, but we can certainly make her welcome!

Dear Gemm, I am a candy newbie, too, and love all the ideas coming forward. I suspect if I cut my stash down to candy size I might be able to make some of these quilts, lol. Kick back in the easy chair in the lurker room and don't be afraid to send pictures of candy quilts our way if you are so inclined. Welcome!

Hey, there swappers! Did you see this on the QB this morning? A lovely way to use our little scrappy squares and then add consistency with sashing and corner stones. But look in the mirror in the photo to see the final border. Very nice touch.

I love it - and the border is terrific - thank you for sharing. I added the image onto my ever increasing list!
