I don't keep scraps. I never seem to use them up although I want to. So I just keep a baggy by my sewing machine and anything small goes into the bag as I cut. I give the bags to a thrift store.

I've got mine in bedspread bags, dark, medium, and lighter colors. I need to cut strips, blocks, etc. I guess. Just taking the time out to do it.

Love the idea of using a wastebasket and also the idea of decoupaging it with the scraps.

I recently found a neat small swing top waste can that is perfect for those tiny scraps and threads. It sits right next to me in easy reach and, if I remember to line it with a plastic bag, easy to remove and store.

I sort mine by color and put into jars. But I just started quilting after a 20 year break so I don't have many scraps yet. Jars are probably a too small option.

Similar to this idea - I want to get a hamper (with a lid) to keep under my cutting table for batting scraps.

I LOVE doing scrappy and crazy quilts so fabric scraps tend not to build up on me. I get excited when I have enough to make another quilt and use them up pretty quickly, so I just have a small bin for fabric scraps. Batting scraps, however, tend to build up on me.

When I started quilting in earnest I went to a local grocery that has a deli section. They had huge glass mayo jars and only charged me a couple dollars for them. They are all stuffed full now, but they look cute on a shelf and you can kind of see what's in there. When my grandson was a toddler he loved spreading out all the pieces to make designs on the carpet. Kept him busy quite a while, but never got the hang of putting them back when he was done. I use a netted laundry hamper with a plastic bag in it. Just throw the scraps in there and it is easy to grab them out when I need them.

I've got rulers and yardsticks, extra cardboard tubes, a box of freezer paper in my "trash can." Scraps go into popcorn cans, large zip bags, shoe boxes, baskets. Not organized very much. I'm not a "scrapper" but I keep telling myself I'll just have to start.

I'm glad to see so many of you "non-scrappy" quilters giving your scraps to buddies that use them! I have a couple of friends that pass theirs on to me, and I'm always grateful to get them. I do 52 soldier quilts a year as well as other charity quilts, so they call me their sub-contractor. They provide some of the fabric, and I put it together... it's a win-win situation. LOL! And it sure beats seeing it go into a landfill somewhere!
