this is my first quilt, although i did make one blanket/quilt type thing before this but had no idea what i was doing. i don't actually think of it as a quilt though, so this is my first real quilt.

the last pic is of the blanket i made. it's not quilted. nothing was measured or square. it is just a top sewn to a peice of black fabric around the the outside edge.

    Beautiful, and beautifully framed.

I gotta say, I'm a bit surprised at the caliber of "first" quilts.

I thought first quilts would look like....a first quilts. Like my first quilt looks like a first quilt. Like the person who made it didn't have a clue as to what they were doing.

Which is not what these look like. At all.

I'm keeping my wrapped up in a bag at the bottom of a box.
Ditto on ratz, but you must have missed my pic posting, trust me, it looks like I didn't have a clue, 'cause I sure didn't!

    Holy Moly!
    That's your first quilt?!?!?!
    Hand- or machine- pieced?
It's really beautiful. Perfect points. The colors, the setting, the cornerstones.

    Fabulous!
    Ditto!!!
I have to say that I am new here and that quilt it quite intimidating. I have very limited time to quilt, but love it when I do, so I only hope I can become as precise as your quilt and shams look. Amazing.

This is my first and second quilt I pieced and quilted on my home sewing machine. I gave the first one to my daughter on her birthday and the other one to my DIL on her birthday.

my first quilt looks like a first quilt. and when I decided to make a quilt last summer, I started looking through my mom's magazines and this one jumped out at me as I love gardening. Once I had started making pieces and thought about how small they were for a quilt I looked at the finished size, it's a wall quilt the size of a pillow case! I still finished it, it's hand pieced and quilted and took me 4 months to complete. I'm quite proud of it, and have yet to put the sleeve on the back. Maybe one day I'll make another and use a sewing machine so the pieces line up better!

I'm glad to say that my second hand pieced quilt is square though it's not done yet, the top is at least square!

let me just say, silver thread is a pain to use!

The quilt in my Avatar is my first quilt. It took me a year to hand-quilt it. I learned so much from doing it.

Here is the first real quilt I ever made. I made it during the time all the 9-11 twin towers attack was being televised. I learned a lot making this quilt, one is to always - always wash red fabric before using it in a quilt. Some of the reds bled in my quilt. I am still proud of my lst quilt, it just has some added character. LOL! The patterns for the blocks came from the Quilter's Cache website. Awesome website to get lots of free block patterns, by the way.

    patriotic 1st quilt

Wow for a first quilt, you have done a beautiful job. Was this a sampler quilt and your colours are very pretty. Nice job. :)
