    I think that is the term--it means that they are surrounded by white (or whatever color you are using for the background). Actually, I floated the whole top since the border is the same color as the rest of the background--didn't use a colored border, for example...used the same color as the rest of the background--leaves it feeling like it is floating instead of framed.
