Default Can anything be done with bananas that will not ripen?

DH was alone last week and picked up a bunch of unripened bananas that are as green today as they were a week ago. I presume that they did not get 'gassed' before they were put out. Is there any recipe out there that uses unripened bananas or are they a lost cause?

Nope definitely regular bananas and they are as hard as rock! I'm thinking into the compost they go.

Did you try placing them in a paper bag with a few newly purchased bananas? I do that with avocados too.

Yes they have been in a paper bag with other bananas, an apple...pretty well everything we could think of. Quite funny actually. I wonder how long they would last before going rotten from the inside out.

Okay never mind. I just cut one open and altho the inside looked okay, the taste was horrible. Definitely going into the compost. But thanks for your suggestions.

We had bananas just like that about a month ago, they rotted and never turned yellow. Weird.

Just reading this morning...if you want ripe bananas cover a cookie sheet with foil...lay bananas on foil and set oven to 350* for 15-20 minutes.
It was a video and the resulting bananas looked black but were soft inside.....they were using them for banana bread so they looked mushy so, if you try this, I would recommend you wait just 5-10 mins.
    Here's the video.

They might have been a GMO.. I had a peach like that and i watched it for a month, no spoiling and no ripening. And strawberries, well that another story..

I also bought some bananas last week that were green. I usually buy some that are almost ripe and some that are green so we will have bananas most of the week without having to go back to the store. The ones I bought this week I think were greener a few days after I bought them than they were when I left the store. I have had them a week and they are finally starting to turn yellow. Maybe 2 more days until they are ripe. I am almost afraid to taste them.
