Okay...just saw Hollyann's Raymond redo on the photo thread. Stunning! It looked so rusty before, I'm not sure I would have tackled it.

I can get real brave with a free "boat anchor" but when it is a quality machine, I'm scared I will ruin it or not be able to get it back together. That's why I practice first. I'm getting ready to completely repaint a 1939 Featherweight fand I wonder how it will turn out. Just waiting for warm enough weather to get it done.

I did put together a list of what I used if anyone is interested shoot me a email and I will send it to you. Now I started the wood treadle work, she is in bad shape too.

I soaked the whole thing in kerosene for about a week to loosen up the rust, kept spraying the rusted parts with Blast Buster until they started moving. Then a good cleaning and fine sanding and spray with clear shellac. Lots of steps, but it works.
