Default 98 yrs.young and going back to work!

Well it was a tough decision, but I decided to sell my Singer 29-4 to a friend who does leatherwork among many other talents that he has. I found the old girl on craigslist over in Mississippi about 5 mos. ago not in the best of shape. After restoration it was the centerpiece of my collection. Most people have never seen such a machine and just loved it. It was made in 1916 and 4000 were made in that production run. We came to terms, I got cash plus a 1940 Singer 66 in a cabinet, a 1950 Singer 128 and 2 Kenmore's from the early 50's. I am glad to see the old girl back to work and hope I can do so when I turn 98(lol). Attached are before restoration, after restoration and on the new job.

Rodney in the frozen deep south-16 degrees this morning!!

beautiful restoration. did you add the decals or were they under the grime?

What a beauty!! It must have been bittersweet to part with this lovely machine, but how wonderful she will be a working woman again!

That's about 10 hours of slowly removing years of flat black overspray paint with a hint of speckled white here and there.

Great work. I'd had tears to part with that. My 29K58 looked much like your 29- when I acquired it. Slowly it is looking much better. I was amazed at how much grim can accumulate and how much original is under there. However, the decals have taken a beating. I will re-decal when time comes. Did you paint, polish, stove-black or what to get such a nice clean, black machine?

Good grief, I used to own one just like that! I owned and operated a boot and leather shop. I used that old girl everyday. Thanks for posting the pictures.
