Yes , I love both of my 221's one is a Centennial 1950 and the other was born in 1938. Both sew magically. My husband keeps them both serviced. I also have a 201 in cabinet she was also born in 1938 and belonged to my Mom she was a teacher at the Singer store when she made her purchase. Interesting thread, I have never seem a walking foot for an early Singer. I purchased an after market one that fits the three machines. Of course does not fit my Red Eye treadle.

Ps also have a 301 Big Sister, do not remember year at the moment. Sorry Big Sister

I repaint featherweights and 301's and would like to know your feelings about repainting and what your favorite color would be if you were to purchase one. So far, it seems like the reds, pinks, purples, and yellows are most of what I have sold so far.

I don't have a problem with it at all, that is why I bought a white FW because I was so tired of most of the older machines being black. I am not a purist and tend to give purists fits but I love colors and it really makes me happy to see colors on my things whether it is a vintage or antique sewing machine or a pair of shoes.
My favorite color ranges: Turquoise, lavenders and lilacs with my two fav colors being periwinkle and padparadscha all with a pearl sheen. Flat is okay too for some colors. The white FW I just purchased turned out to be a blushing celery white so I will leave it be but I'am thinking total 60's Laugh In paint job is needed for the case!! LOL
Here is a link that will give you more color options for a top of the line spray paint that artists use. Artists like this brand and the colors are dazzling! Here is their color chart. Have fun and do what you want. If you are happy with your artistic creations and they are selling and making others happy then it's all good.

*** I have a 221 that I bought from E-bay
*** with carry case, bobbin, & bobbin case ($125. about 4 years ago).
***
*** I found the wooden attachment box (empty) in my Dad's barn after his death.
***
*** Bought on E-bay the new set of Chinese attachments, that I have not tried on it yet.
***
*** Have accumulated a few attachments for it since then.
***
*** It is not at my house at present so cannot give you a date or serial #.

I'm a fan of emerald green

I love painted Featherweights, I think I would like one that's pink. I teach my grandchildren to sew, how excited they would be if they could sew on a pink painted lady.

A year after I purchased my hardly-used 60+ year-old Featherweight, I finally started using it. And I have yet to put it away or use anything else. Okay, I won't be able to freemotion on it, but for piecing and basic quilting? I'm SO in love with this little purr baby. I can't see using anything else for piecing my quilts. It's a dream. No... I haven't named it... yet.

This is my recently acquired 221 (a 1957 model). It was a one-owner machine that hadn't been used in decades. It came complete with all it's attachments and case (still had the tissue paper in the attachments box!). It's sitting on a 1934 15-91 in a Queen Anne table. I've been working on old Singers as a hobby and decided to try and sew up a couple of quilt squares (note the hem attachment to help me keep a 1/4 seam mounted on the machine). To date I've only made a couple of log cabin squares, but it's surprisingly fun.
