Someone in Palm Coast FL is mutilating Singer 301s and asking $500+ each after this desecration

They must be running low on Featherweights to repaint. There were enough of those machines made that custom painting them isn't that big of a deal.
I have a White rotary in bad shape that I will probably paint a color other than black. If a paint job keeps a machine in service instead of being scrapped, it's not a bad thing.

I agree with you Rodney, but to repaint machines in volume like this person does isn't saving them, it's purely for the money.
