Oh my goodness!! That's it..... exactly like it. What is the part on the top for? Do you have a clue as to how to thread it? I'm flabbergasted!!

Beautiful little machine. Give your husband an Attaboy for encouraging you to get it. Looks like you should be able to get it running with just a bit of elbow grease. I'm thinking it will clean up quite nicely if you decide to make it run. (I'm hoping you do.) Please keep us updated if you do decide to get it going.

Well, we'll see how it goes. It's having a lovely oil spa right now.... will check back in the morning. I sure hope I can do this one justice. It's really an interesting machine.

I said I would ask LOTS of questions.... here goes.

After sitting overnight, I'm able to remove the screws on the face plate. But there is that 'take up lever' in the middle of it. Is there something I need to do before taking those screws all the way out? I don't want to mess up something. Here's a picture of the faceplate

Then, I took the screws out of the semicircular metal piece that kind of hides the shuttle on the bottom. I'm including a picture of the shuttle that you can see but I still can't get to it. The slide plates are still totally stuck. .... more oil, more sitting, maybe a little blaster to loosen it up.

Sweet! Score! You have the shuttle! most likely a bobbin then as well. you are lucky.

Take your time. this machine has waited decades for you, be patient and it will be a joy.
