If the machine was used for parts and no longer working, I think it is better than throwing it in a landfill.

I don't know that I would've turned it into a lamp. I probably would do the best I could to find parts for it. If that didn't work, I would clean it up and have it for display. The sewing center near me has many antique sewing machines from portables to treadles. They are all anchored down. Some are a little rusty but they're all from family down the line.

One of the crafters around here has done this to some old sewing machines...I know I don't want one.
He brings home the machines, his wife decides if it can become a light. Last week he had a 301 as a lamp...as well as a T & S. His wife sews and makes flannel quilts. She says that those were beyond help.

Actually a "Featherlight" is a brand of cattle trailers and we have one. Before I got my Featherweight we went into a quilt shop that had antique machines on shelves around the ceiling, my DH asked the clerk if they had any "Featherlights"? She was very confused and asked if he meant "Featherweights". I had to explain to her what he meant.

There is a quilt shop about 60 miles from here that have lots of sewing machine/lamps for sale - much more decorated/elaborate than the one on EBay.

Is that a centennial badge on that lamp? Oh...now I'm really sad.
