For the model number, look under the front lip of the machine. There should be a plate attached there. I wouldn't plug it in unless things move freely. If things are kinda sticky feeling add a drop of sewing machine oil to all the places that move or should move, with the exception of anything plastic.

Enjoy!
I had a Montgomery Ward machine from the 70's, and this is styled very much like it. It sewed like a dream. If you don't have a manual, look on line for one.
Unfortunately, I made the mistake of asking mine to do more than it was designed to do, and it didn't. I broke the timing/tension mechanism, tried to get it fixed but had no luck with it. Lesson learned. Sigh.
Does the top lift up so you can see the mechanical stuff working while you sew? Mine did, and my nephew, then 6, was fascinated by it. He would put the foot pedal to the metal for me while I sewed. We had quite a rhythm going!
