We like pictures. In order to post pictures on Quilting Board, you will probably need to reduce or compress the picture to a file size that is smaller than 2MB. How to post images can be found at https://www.quiltingboard.com/attach...020-01-17-.pdf
Don't forget to scroll over to the far right to find and click on the "Upload" button.

I have found that only the big red "Reply" button or "Quote" work to give me the paper clip icon to work for adding pictures.

Or simply - Make sure pictures are smaller than 2MB
Click on red "Reply" button
Click on the paper clip icon
Click browse - choose picture/s. (only 5 allowed per post)
Once they show up as being loaded, Scroll over to the right side and click on "Upload"
After the pictures show up as being attached, you can close that window and go back to the screen to finish posting your post.

White Model 3051 Zig-Zag
 

I have one of these, and the fashion discs are missing. I found a set online for a model 568. I haven't been able to find out if these will work. Looking at the pictures, it is likely, but I would like to know before I buy them. Any suggestions where I should look?

Sorry, I do not know. It is quite possible that they would. I tried downloading both manuals, but it is hard to tell for sure. The manual for the 568 only shows one cam and mentions colors don't affect function. The manual can be found at https://res.cloudinary.com/singer-se...hite-568-x.pdf

I did find two different White 3051s. One was at https://www.quiltingboard.com/vintag...a-t229630.html which is like the manual found at https://res.cloudinary.com/singer-se...ite-3051-x.pdf which shows the cams that came with that machine. The other is at http://tightacres.blogspot.com/2014/06/white-3051.html

Someone tried to start at "Cam Thread" at https://www.quiltingboard.com/vintag...d-t252968.html but I didn't see any for a White machine. I do know that the cams shown at https://www.quiltingboard.com/7081448-post54.html and https://www.quiltingboard.com/7296445-post60.html will fit some other machines as well. I have some like that and will fit three machines. However there was one that I broke trying it. I know Soman2 had to ream out one of his as it was a little smaller, even though the others fit fine.

I have vintage Singer machine. The black one With the cabinet. Bought it for $40 at a yard sale that said "Name your own price" tag on the machine. There was another person looking at it and only wanted to give $5. It works and I wanted that machine as it is an exact type that I learned to sew on. When I brought it home Momma went wild with all the stories she had about her growing up days and the same type of machint that she learned to sew on. We had lots of goof talks about the various projects she and I made on those old machines. Right now it is just sitting in the corner as a reminder of those fun days with Momma. She passed a few weeks after we talked about those memories so that brings the machine more dear to my heart as Momma would not have remembered her fun days with her old machine. She had given it away when my Daddy found a brand new model--one that she could move easily as it was now a portable model. Momma said she still liked her old machine the best. I agree. I now have a Singer heavy duty 4423 machine. Still have not been ablr to plug it in because my old gal is sitting right next to it. Have to move my old gal--sometime befor July 1......maybe.

Have you tried calling Singer directly? 800-474-6437 is their number in the USA. I have called them about parts for my "Old Gal". Was very pleased with the person I talked with and as always with the machines. Hope this helps

I know this will probably get lost on this thread, but I thought I would add these here. I was looking for "New Jewel" sewing machine. Jewel was used by numerous different companies. It seems like there is not a complete list of names and who manufactured said machine as so many were stenciled or badged using different names. As we all know, even though it may have a popular name (like Singer) on the machine there were many different models.

Anyway, I found "New Jewel" was supposedly made by National according to page 190 of https://www.sil.si.edu/DigitalCollec...er/CF/view.cfm I had downloaded the pdf which can now be gotten at https://archive.org/details/sewingmachineit00coop

The Singer numbers will not work for other machines. There have been some that have tried to date other machines based on paper work that came with the machines. However, getting a date within 5-10 years is about what can be even close to be expected from non-Singer machines, especially without paperwork included with the machine.

I'm hoping that you have seen https://2spools.blogspot.com/ and looking at the serial numbers that are posted there, I would put your grandmother's machine somewhere in the middle of the 1914-1930 time frame that the two spool machines were made.
