I just turned an ugly shade of green over your 31-20. I REALLY want one of those. I have a 31-15 treadle (same machine with a class 15 bobbin) that I've electrified, but that big bobbin is drool-worthy! :D

Love the Christmas prints, Dorthy! I can't sew a straight line to save my life - you did that so nicely - perfect simplicity for a man's quilt. :)

Nancy, this was commissioned by a friend from work and I seriously undervalued my time. She basically got the quilt for cost of materials and all the time was a donated by me. That is her idea of a lap quilt as the quilt dimensions are what she gave me to work with. She was thrilled with the final results and didn't balk at the price (which she had done earlier) and realized I had a tremendous amount of time into it but didn't offer to pay me more. I did get half up front and will get the other half in December ~ I hope. My commission price was $100 which was stupid of me to tell her but she kept pressuring me for a final price before I had figured up the cost of all of the materials. I liked the final result but did learn that commission work is not something I will ever do except maybe a table runner or something similar in size. I did play around with some of my stencils on the top because she didn't much care how it was quilted except she didn't want just straight lines or big X's ~ she wanted things (she meant pictures or outlines) quilted onto the quilt.

Cindy; thanks for the kind words. The recipient couldn't have afforded much above what I quoted to her but her cost only covered the materials and none of my time. I will do a smaller piece like table runners or wall hangings but will price them more realistically or do much less quilting. The recipient was thrilled with the final result and oohed and ahhed over the finished quilt.

I am particularly intrigued by Totosmom's wool applique. It is really attractive, lovely muted colours. Somewhere in this house, stuffed in a cupboard, is a bag of wool scraps...

Chris - I've been having fun with butterflies too! I added three as an afterthought to a big project I am finishing at the moment. I love the way you have added the extra applique butterfly.

Mine was added out of sheer desperation. I had finished the body of the quilt and realized that space needed something there to stabilize the batting/wadding so I dug out the appliques and put one on the quilt. The recipient was thrilled with the quilt and the added special touch of the applique. I didn't burst her bubble either that it wasn't a special touch just for her. :D
