JC, I like both of your machines. Isn't it interesting that seamstresses/quilters used to put fabric around the head of the machine for storing pins? I have seen that so many times. Unfortunately, it also causes a lot of wear n tear on the decals.

$5... great buy, huh? Thank you for sharing.

Thank you for looking..I used to have my grandmothers sewing machine and it had a piece of fabric wrapped around the machine for a pin cushion too. So, when I got this one with the same thing, I just left it there as it reminds me of her...

Thank you all for the positive feedback and warm welcome...Im sure Im going to like it here. And the coffee and rolls arent bad either..

you know I have been wondering about that. I have seen so many old machines with cloth on them and just couldn't figure out why. Then last night I dreamed about it. Okay yes I admit it...I dream about quilting and old sewing machines. I know I'm pathetic :-D

Oh NO!!! You dreamed about it? I did just that last night. I can't remember exactly what was going on but I was somehow dealin' with vintage sewing machines... one was black with terrific decals... Ohhhhhhhhhhh... We have gone nuts. I still think Billy has put something in the coffee/tea water but I can't figure out what it is! ...dreamt about vintage machines... YIKES

I was actually going to come here and make a post asking if anyone knew why someone would wrap cloth around a machine like that. lol! I also dreamed about a log cabin block i was making. Now to actually make it!

I need to find a good dealer for a few little things. She needs the rubber cushions and it looks like the thing that goes on the light switch toggle is also missing. Otherwise she is in great shape.[/quote]

Katia,
Check this out for parts for your new baby. Very reliable and helpful.

Ginny, do you remember the colors of the log cabin block you were making in your dream? I am currently making Cabin Corners quilt from Jo Morton's book on my newly acquired FW.

Today I wound my first bobbin on my FW. It worked really great and wound the thread very evenly!

its a dark brown floral for part of it with some cream colors. I need to see what I can come up with but I really need to finish up these memorial quilts before I start anything else!
