If a person wanted to do some hand painting on an old machine, what kind of paint would anybody suggest? And would a spray clear coat be a good enough protectant after the painting was done? TIA

Good evening everyone, this ole brown mouse is just sticking her head out that little mouse hole, to say HELLO everybody. But, I do have a question to ask? I've seen a few of the white FW's surfacing lately. And they are dated between 1963-64. So when were the celery colored FW made? Does anyone have any research on that?
Quilterguy, it good to hear from you around the shop. Billy, now if you would have tried that 'VICKS', you wouldn't had those dancing SM dreams. Everyone have a good evening, got to go do that lil ole brown mouse thing. |
I got my 1/4" foot today for my Singer 301. The one with the little metal piece on it. Needless to say it is more than 1/4". Yikes, my block come up to small!
Have you had this problem and how did you fix it? Use a different foot? Which one? I ordered the screw in seam guide today so that might prove more useful. This machine goes to fast for me to just use the plate guide...whhhirrrrrrrr |

Best of luck to you. I know how maddening stuff like this can be. |
I have a 301a that I recently received and need to change out the bottom rubber feet cushions and as well the bobbin winder tire, too. Any tutes or info available on how to do that?
I see there's a need for a straight screwdriver inside the rubber feet cushions, but mine aren't budging. Am I missing a step? Thanks in advance, Karla |

Anyone take a guess as to what this is? It is listed as a Singer Treadle but it looks like the treadle base from a Singer 201 but what about the head is that even a Singer? Is this an original set up? Should I be interested?

Liquid Wrench is wonderful stuff, spray it on the screws with the machine upside down and let it be for about 1/2 hour or so. I had to use it on my friend's Featherweight's bed cushion screws. If your bed cushions look melted, sometimes you just need to dig them out with a screwdriver; make sure you get it all out or the new bed cushions won't sit right. Sharon W. |

Well you guys I want to post pictures again of my Wilcox and Gibbs now that my DH got the coffin top finished! DH also sandblasted the little machine (very lightly with very fine sand) table and look at the difference. Now we can read everything on that little table including the date of 1883!
Can you all tell I love this cabinet and machine now that DH re-did all of it! Again the original Coffin top done and all complete! Willy's little table all cleaned up! |
