Good evening my VSMS peeps! After reading through all 1173 [ages of this thread I thought I would officially come in and introduce myself. I have tinkered with sewing for the last 26yrs (since learning how in Jr Hi). But since January, I have been bitten HARD by the quilting bug. I have been sewing on my Pfaff 2048 and it is great. But I last week I was given one of my Grampa's old machines (used to fix them).
Meet "Old Ironsides"! She is a 1935 Singer 15-91 and she is in fabulous shape! The inner workings were pristine, just like Gramps left it. She needed lot's of oil but she is working great and I even made a simple baby blanket last night without any trouble. I am hoping to set her up for FMQ once I get my sewing area re-organized! <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/25177522@N05/5825989819/" title="CIMG3871 by LHJ_photos, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2221/...5077e26613.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="CIMG3871"></a> <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/25177522@N05/5825990277/" title="CIMG3874 by LHJ_photos, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3121/...133b7a7fce.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="CIMG3874"></a> <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/25177522@N05/5826546034/" title="CIMG3876 by LHJ_photos, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5068/...79bb066423.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="CIMG3876"></a> <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/25177522@N05/5825990929/" title="CIMG3877 by LHJ_photos, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5225/...fe9178670d.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="CIMG3877"></a> |

I am getting my Gramma's machine from my cousin as soon as I drive to Connecticut to get it. I really want to try to sew with it and saw a place online to order a manual called Relics.
I have pictures which I will try to send but sure I will be missing some things. I am really excited as I used to sit on her lap as she treadled away on this machine. |

Hello everyone,
It's been a long time since I posted, but I have been reading and watching the great machine parade. Now I have a question. . . If looking at 2 Singer 15 machines: Condition very good, nothing missing, both worked and were the same price. . . one is a potted motor and one is a belt driven motor, which would be the better choice and why? Thanx in advance. Brenda |
