Gym uniforms are making a come back!! I didn't have to wear them, but I noticed that now they all have the same t-shirt and shorts at the high school

On the 301 I would say if its not broke dont fix it! Those motors are no fun to take apart and look at, and most of the time your going to have to rewire the field because the wires are so brittle after 50 years of heat and use. But the brushes should come out easily by removing the set screws and sliding them out.

Billy when you pull the brushes out the whole thing can come apart on those - unless you know what you are doing they need to be left alone. The one with the oil inside needs to be cleaned up - it smells horrid when it runs.

Is this the machine that was drowned in oil? if so just shake the living crap out of it after warming it up with a hair drier and run it like you stole it! It will smoke and smell but it will go away eventually.

were they turquoise??? ;)

My one piece gym suit circa 1961 was a dull shade of washed out royal blue.

Mine too and I hated it.

HA HA HA - I lucked out - the year I got in high school was the year they switched to shorts and blouses. But the older girls still had to wear the dumb things. The swim suits were what got me - athletic type undershirt with a crotch. One size fits all - either it was falling off or you were hanging out.

Just know that the Vintage Singer Yahoo site is HEAVILY moderated and you will get verbally spanked if you don't follow every rule to the letter(and there are many). I joined, asked a question and posted a thank you to someone who responded. My response was yanked, I was sent a nasty e-mail about 'wasting space' thanking people and not clipping my posting down enough. I will lurk, but never post again!!

The same thing happened to me only it was regarding my question which they never posted. It really turned me off.
