Brass brushes are a lot easier that the steel on metal surfaces. The brass is softer and will wear quicker than the steel. But, still take it easy when brushing. I have yet to damage anything that I have used the brass brush on.

Thank you Mizkaki, I just did not want to damage anything. I have lots of time now I have retired. Plus I like no harsh chemicals. Would the brass brush damage the chrome or what ever the throat plates are made of?

To those of you who have used this, do you use the type that you have to mix or do you use the tube type? ~G~ |

PS I usually go have mine welded. My next door neighbor works on restoring old cars. He always has a welder going. Skip |
AHA - it is one of the up right legs - someone must have thrown it off a truck...

Skip,
Wish you were closer, I have two treadles with broken parts. Cost to have it done here is prohibitive. Joe |
I think welding would be the choice here.
|
Why is welding so costly in your area. It is cheap here. Most of the time free.
|
Joe find a highschool tech class for welding and machine work they will usually do it for free or a very small donation.
