Hello,

Well, according to the vintage guru, my wife and I are scheduled to pick up a vintage treadle Standard. We will drive to pick up this jewel. Round trip will be about 5,000 miles!! Now let me explain a little better. My aunt and uncle live in Wenatchee, Wa. and at 90 yrs.young, are downsizing and knowing that I collect machines, asked if I would like to have it for my collection. Aunt Mabel bought it used from a shop in Minnesota back in 1967 and used it for years and finally quit sewing. It has been in her home since 67' so it should be in great shape. My cousin is storeing it at his home and said he would ship it to me. I told my wife that we have never visited them and I would like to pick it up myself so she said "ROAD TRIP" I need a vacation! I have had a few machines damaged in transit and elected not to have it shipped and am using this as an excuse to take a couple weeks off work-lol. Now this will offset the 1917 Singer that I swapped yesterday to a friend of my sister who does all her machine quilting. Sis told me her friend is a reenactor of civil war events and as a vendor could use a hand crank machine. So I rummaged through my stuff and came up with a 1917 hand crank 127, custom built a storage case and an accessory box and an extension table. I also included a buttonhole and zig zag attachment all with manuals. I delivered it to her studio last evening and she almost fainted when she saw what I had. I spent an enjoyable hour going over everything with Lee and sis had fun watching us put the old girl through her paces. When finished she asked how much do I owe you and I said would you trade shop credits for the machine and if so, how much credit. Well she thought for second and said that everything far exceeded anything she could envision and said would $400 store credit be enough and I countered her offer with a firm $200 and not a penny more. I thought she was going to faint. Ya see folks, this is a friend of my sister and a downright nice lady and I think we were all winners. The credit can be used by me or my sister and she is currently quilting my very first real quilt, a table runner and sis has a piece there too. BTW, her husband is a triple purple heart recipent and served in the Marines, sadly his two buddies were killed in an ambush. Mark,thanks for your service!

love the work you did on the boxes and extension. My tablesaw is behind too msny SMs tobe used readily.Someday...i have to get more oregon-ized and less agonized.

I think you'll enjoy the trip. I don't get east of the mountains much anymore but the area around Wenatchee is pretty. If you have the time check out Leavenworth about 30(?) miles away. It's a tourist trap but fun. There are also a couple decent antique stores near there. Very nice setup for the hand crank machine.

I like that hand crank set up! WOW can you show us how that whole thing fits in the box?

The hand crank is removed for travel/storage and then the top fits as any bentwood or other top would fit. There is a latch on each end under the wood handles so the case can be lifted via the wood or rope handles. I put the ropes on for a visual effect, but they are also functional. The blue object in the background is a padded and quilted storage bag that I made for the handcrank and is stored in the small wood box along with the zig zagger, buttonholer and instruction manuals. When ready for travel, Lee will have 2 boxes and the extension table.
