Score! Two machines for ...$.75, Well really free...
So my mom and I were yard sailing and well we stumbled upon one rather late in the afternoon. I picked up a vintage space heater. The lady just gave it to me, mom picked up a book for twenty-five cents and an insulated lunch bag for fifty cents. So in total we spent seventy-five cents.
As we were walking to my truck, I noticed an old machine sitting on the ground in the dirt. It was covered in all sorts of crud and was missing the foot pedal and the motor/light box that it plugs in to. But I did like the color (pale pink/beige-ish) Anyway i fangirled and squealed a little bit when i noticed the color. Well the lady running the sale came over and was like, "Yea that one doesn't work and if it doesn't sell today I'm taking it to the dump."
*gasp*
*nods* Then she decided to take me over to a corner of her yard away from the main selling area and said, "This machine is better and I've sewn on it. It runs but I don't sew anymore. If you can get it in your car you can have it."
That machine was in a cabinet, made from particle board. I'm guessing late sixties-mid to late seventies, because of the color. So yea free machine if i can lug it to my truck! Hahaha, guess what i did!
*nods* I've carried 40 lbs Kenmore's i can carry this wee beastie! In to the truck it went, then as I was talking to her I asked about that other pink baby. She said "sure go ahead, you can probably use it for parts."
Well now that i've talked up my 'new' machines, so really a pair of free machines.
Introducing my new acquisitions:
A Dressmaker SWA-2000.

and the Ward Signature:

Surprisingly the Dressmaker runs like a dream. There was no rust/oil build up. It's a fairly clean machine inside. The outside was just messy. I has a pretty powerful yet quiet motor. All i need to do is get a foot pedal and some cams. Remember this is the machine sitting in the dirt that she was going to drag to the dump and told me it was only good for parts.
Now the Ward Signature, Oy! I can't find any information on it. There is rust within the bobbin hook assembly, on the lower bottom of the face plate, and the tension module. The cabinet is particle board with parts of it wobbly because of water damage. I haven't taken it inside because I found webs and a spiders nest/egg thingy so i have to kill them before dragging it inside. BUT if i can't get it running i can use it for parts that the Dressmaker needs. i.e. the foot pedal things. lol This was the machine she told me was running and she did sewing on it. Oh My Word, how she 'sewed' when the bobbin assembly had rust... It's a miracle. It's lighter than the Dressmaker so either Aluminium or plastic insides. I'll check it out tomorrow.
