The stitches blew me away. I never imagined a machine so old can sew so well.

yes. Maybe one day I'll find one that looks prettier as in has better decals. But Eleanor will always be sister. One day she will also get a straight stitch sister. Probably a singer treadle of some sort.

Great job! It's amazing what you can do when you try! The first time I put on a treadle belt, I was terrified. I thought, "What if it doesn't work?" I then decided that since it didn't work without it, I really had nothing to lose. I found a small round file (I have one that I use in jewelry making) is the best thing to punch that hole. My first one was a bear, until I thought about the little file. Works great. Congratulations on your new baby and I hope you get many hours of joy from her!

I,ve wondered what the stitching would look like, thanks for posting pic's. I have the opportunity to buy one also. Would this work for piecing a quilt. Hope this is not a stupid question.

Mimi, yeah I had nothing to loose. I guess I just need to be more self reliant.

DeAnne, get it! Lol! I have 0 quilting skills/knowledge but the machine was originally advertised to sew anything. It has no reverse, so someone else who has one told me she just sews over the end line once or twice. The older machines seem to do well with quilting and I know it will be good for free motion embroidery. The dog feet don't drop but I don't really think that's a problem. But again I have no clue how to quilt. hopefully someone else can answer your question more efficiently? Good luck! It's such a charming little machine. I couldn't help but buy mine.
