Default smoking Sewmor 606 motor

Hi everyone been away a while. I have a 606 Sewmor of my mom's and the motor smoked when we hit the foot petal , so being a bit crazy, I tried to take it apart to see if something obviously wrong would reveal itself, but I can't even get the back half it out of the shell. Yes we had to clip the wires (the wiring needs replacing anyway.) Some carbon chips are falling all around and these little metal tubes I was able to remove with tweezers out of the back of the shell...the top came off ok but the back seems to be stuck if that makes sense to anyone would appreciate any help. thanks Probably heading for the repair shop.

Neat that you have your mom's machine.

I'm not sure but I think your machine would uses a motor block like https://shop.sew-classic.com/Cord-Se...143-SCE143.htm Sew-classic also has electronic foot controllers and a wiring service.

Have you seen Bel Air / Sewmor 606 ?
That thread talks about the different foot controls. You might want to have a look at https://archaicarcane.com/what-a-pile-of/ as it is about carbon pile foot controls.

Janey thanks so much I checked out all those places..the supply place will be helpful! The gal with the 606 has trouble with stitiches and I haven't even got my machine to run yet so don't know about that. Her motor and foot pad smoked and only the motor on mine but it was impressive..ha Ummm should have tried the denatured alcohol before attempting to take the motor apart. I found a video on utube where this guy takes one apart but he skips what I need to know everytime...sigh. Thanks for the pointers and at least I know from the guys video that the rod with the fan does not come apart....but I can't remove the case around the motor to see about the brushes etc.

Thanks for your help ! I will be needing new wiring for sure!

Good news , my hubby got the case off , he just had to pull harder! So now we see that the communitator is really dirty, but the brushes don't look that bad, tho I can't see them real well they are squished in a copper or brass colored tube and soldered in. Not going to mess with those.
So now I will follow the advice on cleaning....so hopeful all goes together again and works!
