Thanks for the tip!
I've been avoiding CL and Thrift stores of late.
I was doing pretty well - then this Morse Fotomatic popped up.
Try as I might I couldn't resist.
The case was dodgy and when I picked it up the handle fell off. The machine dropped about 18" and the case bottom broke apart. Machine seems okay. It's quite pristine and came with a number of small parts.
I mean really - what was I supposed to do?

But the case wasn't much of a loss in any event.
As for the machine...my eyes did one of those cartoon things where they pop out a few inches...
Did you get the twin spool of Shop Goodwill?

no - I decided to pass on the two spool. I got better pictures from GW and decided it was going to need too much work to be worth paying the shipping to get it. I've already got one, so it's not good to get greedy - but it's oh, so tempting!

I'm looking forward to it!
I met Bob Koval from Toledo Industrial Sewing Machine at the Columbine Leather Guild show here in Denver last weekend.
He had one of his new machines (Cowboy?) - virtually identical to the Adler (he's also an Adler dealer) on a stand running a servo motor through a speed reducer. It would run down to about 50 SPM. Now that's what a guy like me - with limited skills at best - needs :-)

Really love the look of that Dressmaker Lew. Hope you get some cams
...Except, if you watch carefully, you'll notice the Pickers never, EVER pay any attention to old sewing machines (at least not the version that I'm watching)
On a similar note, I'm proud to say I resisted a pretty-much-free machine yesterday. Looked good in the pic (same retro vibe 'Wardana', blue and silver with chrome and red knob). Except I have never seen so much rust in all my life. The seller was desperately going at it with a dish scrubber to 'demonstrate how easily' the rust would come off, but I couldn't stomach it. I've got a Necchi BU to get working and that one lives on display in my lounge room so that's kind of motivating! LOL

On a side Picker note - my sister has lived in LeClaire Iowa for over 40 years. Danielle used live next door. It's a very picturesque town on the banks of the Mississippi river. Many beautiful homes that were built by river boat captains that would go on board at that point to navigate the rapid areas downstream with which they were familiar.
The show has been a huge boost to the town. "Picker Days" brings up to 10,000 people to LeClaire.
Rust isn't much of an issue around here what with our living in the High Desert and all...but I'm originally from Wisconsin where things rust right before your eyes :-)
