Charlee, you have a good heart. Go with your gut, it's usually right.
Am I crazy?
There was an ad posted on the local CL for someone that wanted to rent a sewing machine for the summer... I saw it a couple of times, thought about it, and then answered it.
She's a young woman, just graduated from college that's accepted a temporary position locally for the summer. I'm going to LOAN her my 328K, with a fully refundable deposit when I get the machine back.
I'm a bit nervous about it....I like this machine....a LOT! I also understand tho, what it's like to want to be able to sew and have nothing to use.

JoAnn's or other fabric stores should have some type of service for those that only wish to use a machine on loan...but they don't.
Laura, That Necchi could be treadled. That's a Necchi Nora? Correct?
Way to go Charlee! Give the girl a few pointers and she will be on her way!
Thanks Gang!
Linda already sews, so knows the basics. I'll show her the machine...and the reason I selected this one is that it's sturdy, and it has the manual. We'll meet up with her tomorrow and deliver the machine...
She's Native American, and a recent college grad. She wants the machine to sew a new "Jingle dress"...she's going to send me a photo of herself in the last one she made, I'll share if it's ok with her.

John, a friend of mine just bought one of those Singer 160th black anniversary machines - it is very large - looks more like a modern embroidery machine - it is very noisey! She was driving everyone crazy at Girls Night Out with that noisey thing. She is going to put some batting or something under it next time she brings it - there is so much plastic on that machine that it rattles! I wanted one too, until I saw it in person! No way! It is way too big for what it does, and way too noisey, way toooooooooo much plastic for me! But if you want one, I hope you get one - they are getting pretty cheap!

Metal frame. Big deal, even the WalMart Brothers have a metal frame. Otherwise, they'd all just collapse into a puddle of goo. :>
