So what do you guys think. Is this machine worth saving? Someone near me is selling it as a parts machine for $25 OBO.

What's your other treadle machine? The Singer 66-1 red eye is pretty. Sometimes a machine won't pick up the bobbin thread because its either not threaded correctly or the needle isn't in correctly.

Uh oh - now you have me all excited and nervous too! It does have a bobbin - one like my "newer" old machines. Is that normal? I thought maybe it is newer than I originally thought because I thought all the old ones had those "bullet" type shuttles.
Here are a few pictures...I'm sad to say someone used this as their coffee table (certainly not me - my Husband would be put out of the house if he dared to put a cup on my sewing machine!) for some time so there are rings. Also the decals are starting to turn a bit silver and one is nearly scratched off. Is there any way to preserve them from any further damage? I do like to sew on this machine, and it's a great one for my kids because the bobbin is one that they are familiar with, but I don't want to ruin it.

Oh, and is THIS what you mean by a bobbin? These old machines have odd names for things so I want to make sure I understand correctly. Here's a pic...

I just loosened a lift lever by taking the pressure off by removing the thumb screw and taking the spring and shaft out. Oiled (Penetrating oil will work) everything that moves the lever, and let soak in. The lever moved the next day. Do not put much pressure on the lever or it may break. If you can get inside move with a screwdriver.

Picked up a vintage machine at estate sale last week. Not sure what model. The decals are OK, has the shuttle and two bobbins, got the knee bar with it. Lite has the singer name embossed on the shade. It's OK for the $15 I think.

What do you use to get the machine to look so good? I've got a two spool that I started to clean and the decals came off when I cleaned it, luckily it was on the back side. The problem is the shellac is really dull and loose. TIA.
