Ok, here we go. I purchased two sewing machines this past Wednesday at GW. Due to having oral surgery on Thursday I finally got a good look at them. Both have had the foot controllers cut off from the motors. Why would they do this? Is this an easy repair? Sew Classic has resonably priced controllers for sale. Which ones should I buy? Or should I find a repair shop to do the repairs?

In some states it's illegal to see used electrical appliances with the cords intact, the idea to force the buyer to rewire and make sure that the wiring is safe.

I've not done any rewiring, William does that kind of stuff for me...altho I might if he doesn't get my 99 done soon! ;)

Miriam is really good at it tho....maybe she'll jump in here if she gets a chance?

She is beautiful!! I never thought about putting wood veneer on some of these ugly old bases. (most of mine don't come with any base) lol

Those are both really neat !! I have a couple of retro machines, but haven't found a Godzilla finish yet.

    ok, am I bad..
I just found this Topic, and I started on the last page, acting like a 4 yr old looking for pictures.

Now to figure out how to save this Topic so I can look at it every day.

We purchased 4 red eyes in one day, or was it 5. all for around $125
When my son and husband work on them they set up a big table in the family room with resin paper on it. And go through the whole machine. I'm in charge of polishing at the end.
Our 16 yr old is going to start this as a side line business, purchasing a scissor sharpener this fall with any monies he has earned this summer.
Just blessed to be able love the field I work in. When I look at all the areas in my life, machine quilting, piecing, canning, picking hickory nuts, today apple cider making, I'm almost giddy and don't know which direction I should go in today.
Glad to see all you fellow Vintage machine lovers guide us "newbies". I even gave my sister a Treadle, she was so excited. I think she may even let me see the Featherweight she got from my mom... I had a glimse at it once. LOL
Mom picked it up at a rummage sale,$15, a couple months before she passed away.
    Thanks, I'm bookmarking this NOW.
    Enjoy~

I wish just putting veneer on would help my Federal. It has termite tunnels in it's base. I'm afraid I'm going to have to have a base for that one if it won't go in a cabinet.

So did any of go you get to go to the ISMACS convention this weekend? We were going but last night Valerie noticed that I was having another outbreak and this morning I have several really bad areas that are weeping. I think I broke though the meds again or because I got a little over heated when I was fixing dinner the other night. Either way Valerie told me to stay inside and rest all weekend and hopefully I can make it until Monday when I see my Rhuematologist. :( :( :(

Anyway I have the link to event and here is a link to the auction list for some of the machines that are being sold there. I wanted to go because there are 2 machines that I wanted to bid on.

    http://www.ismacs.net/events.html

Just click on the auction catalog and be sure to put a bib on!!
