Thanks Chris_quilts! I did find some help on another board dating her - she's dated between 1903 and 1905. I can't wait to get her running! The sellers only wanted $40 for it because they just wanted it out of their house! it was taking up too much room they said! I was only too happy to help them out! LOL
The lady was dumbfounded that I actually wanted to get it running and *gasp* SEW with it! Why on earth would I want to do that? lol

hi all,
I just acquired a 1960 'Strawbridge and Clothier' zig-zag stitch sewing machine...i have the warranty and instruction manual. It's real clean... been trying to upload the picture but not working-will continue to work onthat tho, cause i'm so excited to share her picture! Am searching to find out what brand/where she originated - has the 'made in Japan' on the front label, but motor is 'made in the USA' (could be a new motor not sure)... needs a little work with wiring so haven't plugged her in just yet-not til I get that fixed... any information anybody has on where to look for more information would be great!

I have two black 301 short beds, they sew really fast.
I bought a Singer 306 last week, I'm waiting for needles and bobbins. I have lots of pattern cams coming soon, won an ebay auction for 28 of them. It looks to be in good condition. Did I mention that this is a very heavy machine? Oh dear, the heaviest one I own. Glad that I bought locally and didn't have to pay shipping costs. I'll most likely do a motorectomy and treadle it.

Oh, and you will have to sand blast the treadle irons and repaint them - not too hard a task! Or just apply Liquid Gold to the irons and they will look great!

Well I took 8 machines to a community yard sale today at our local quilt store and I sold 5 of them! I was really glad to be able to cut my herd down a little as it was getting out of hand! I also ended up bringing one home! A really cute little tan and brown Sewmor zig zag machine. The lady with the machine practically shoved it in my car - she just gave me the machine and cabinet so she wouldn't have to haul it home! Anyway, I sold 2 Japanese 15's - the blue Morse, and a black Electra. I also sold a 99 hand crank - it went to a really good home! I had a New Home Light Running machine, and a Pfaff that is not really a Pfaff - it was made after Pfaff sold their name - that also sold! So I took 8 machines, came back with 4 counting the Sewmor given to me! I was happy! Now I can get some more of the ones I really like!
Oh and Candace it was great seeing you today!

Ohhhhhh its a Pawfoot machine!!!! One of these days I am going to get one but to answer your question I need to see a close up of the side view of the machine. It looks like a New Home but I need to dig in my records and see, but I warn you I do not have a lot on the pawfoots.... PM me with your email adress and I can send you what I find.
