another puzzle - looks sort of like some kind of quill - I've never seen one like it. I don't come up with one on a search for quills - it is very finely made - came out of a drawer -what is it and why would it be in a sewing machine drawer?

I have just bought these two from a Charity Store for £20 the pair. They are in complete cases and the Vibra has a box full of tools, needles and feet and guides. Even got the instruction book. Can't open the shuttle slider yet. The Fiddlebase has it's little boat shuttle and bobbin, but I can't open the catch which allows you to lean the head back. Wait for hubby to come in and have a look. I'm so excited. I learned to sew on an old made in Japan 'SANGER' with a boat shuttle.

Thank you Texas Jan,
I can't wait to start cleaning them. I'll have to get hubby to give them the once over. As a hobby he has restored old motorbikes, so I guess he'll be very gentle with my machines. Hope he won't be too cross but will be as impressed as I am. I can't believe the machines and cases appear to be complete.

I have an old lady to post as well! Someone advertised a Singer sewing cabinet - Here is what was in there... I thought I was getting some needed legs... sigh.

People put all kinds of stuff in sewing machine drawers - this stuff seems untouched for YEARS...

Lovely Treadle. You've even got a suspender with it! It's so exciting when you have such a fabulous find! My hubby has just given my two a once over and taken bits off. He's impressed. He's checked the cases and the hinges and is already planning to reposition the repaired hinge that has been put back in the wrong place. Shuttle cover is bent and needs straightening. Did I say...Hubby is a mechanical engineer? Phew..that's lucky!
