I have a model 28 or VS3 from the early 1890's with a boss. Definitely pre common motor usage and for a hand crank.

My 28 and 27 from 1890s doesn't have the boss

Here's a pic of my VS3 with the boss which you can sort of see the boss bolt. SN 10562945 (1891). Need a repro crank for this one.

OFF TOPIC - but related....

Last night I was teaching my Armoring Apprentice how to roll an edge in metal and I realized that the metal bit i had just made as a demo looked like it had been fed through a hemmer foot on a sewing machine... so here it is

Metal hemming

that is so nice. a real conversation piece. over $600 and reserve price not met yet. wonder how much the seller wants? is this machine rare than the wilcox ?
