What a lovely gift for a friend Carrie!
Honchey, I love your table runner. I can't use them, with my KK they will not survive
I decided to cut the Laurel Birch fabric into 10" blocks. That way I will keep the gorgeous design and can make the most of the FQ's. I think I will use aqua blue and purple for the snowball blocks. Not very Christmas like but that's ok with me.
Bev, good to hear you're almost finished with the old house. It will be on the market soon I guess?

This just might be the answer to my mystery Christmas exchange present for my "adopted" family!
CarrieM ... what a nice homecoming for him, to receive your quilt as an extra award! Hope you noted his achievement in the label. Maybe he'll be part of our Air Show at the EX next year?
Anael ... One benefit of our metric FQs ... you can get 10" squares! Bonus ... It'll work up really fast too!

Dublb--sounds like you are moving along on the old house. I am sure it will be a great feeling to have it all done and listed. Then you can start really getting settled at the new place.
Anael--I think a nice big block will be good for your fabric. Can't wait to see what you come up with!
QE--The quilt had already been shipped before the competition, so not on the label.
School this morning, then getting new tires on the "old" van (the one DH drives), and I might have a little bit of time in the clubhouse before going to pick up DD at school. If not for sure I will be home all day tomorrow and hopefully get a good start on the SYE block 3...I just need to cut the background fabric and it is ready to start sewing.

We were lucky enough in Corpus to catch one of the Confederate Air Shows and talk to the guys first hand...it was a great memory we will cherish our whole lifetime. Wonderful, Carrie, that your quilt was appreciated by the pilot who won the stunt flying event. Blue Angels often appeared in shows at Corpus because of the air base there.
Its chilly weather here with a few drops of rain, so I thawed fresh hamburger and made a pot of Chilli on the stove. My bf was talking to me while I did that, and she decided to make chilli also. Mine is semi-homemade, flavored with onions, garlic, celery, chilli powder, red peppers, Kosher salt and coarse pepper. Add a can of pork and beans, chilli beans and red beans and two pints of homemade tomatoes and one small can of green giant's Mexican corn and catchup, with a tablespoon of brown sugar and apple cider vinegar. FIL put apple sauce into his. I would venture to say, there are many different varieties among the PC cooks here. It could go into the crock pot, but I prefer my Dutch oven on top of the stove.
Everyone have a good day, I am going to sew together block two of the SYE. And, yes, it is 'different' and tells the story of the desert in the USA Southwest.

Update on Bram: he didn't have to stay in hospital, gained a little weight but does have problems. The doctor thinks he is suffering from reflux. Besides that his urine is full with bacteria and stuff which shouldn't be there so more antibiotics. He's on meds for this reflux but it takes a week before they work It seems to be a family problem as my DS has the same condition and my late hubby had it too.
Chili, that's a good idea. I might do that this weekend, I love chili

Anael, Poor baby...I hope he starts getting better soon....Chili sounds good....I take the easy way making it.. meat, onions, celery, beans, tomatoes & packaged mix...I've never made it any other way...Oh, Cheddar cheese on top served with crusty bread...
Carriem , I bet your quilt was nice surprise for the pilot !!
I'll be getting the figures for the table runner later today..if I remember correctly it just might similar to a Moda pattern. It really is very easy to put together...

It's going to be a"chili" day here this weekend too. I'm like Honchey but add my own spices until I think it tastes right I like to put chili atop a baked potato and cheddar cheese.
Hope Bram gets on the mend soon.
Dublb you're going to have that house spic n span; you've put a lot of work getting it so.
We had over 3" of rain this morning. Glad I picked apples and brought home my chair yesterday. Apple butter in the oven
An adaptation of my tattered and well loved "More With Less" cookbook.
6 qts unsweetened applesauce
6 c sugar
1 c cider vingegar
1T ground cinnamon
2 t ground cloves
Place in 300° oven proof bowl or roasting pan for 3 hours stirring every 20 minutes. I usually stir when I think about it! My large stainless steel bowl works great. Then process in hot water bath for 15 minutes (pints). A fall treat all year long.
