I always square my hst before opening them when they are still triangles. I find it easier. If the hst is suppose to be 2 inches lay the triangle down use your square ruler, make sure the 2 side 2inch marks are on the stitch line, trim both sides and all 4 are trimmed and square.

Barb, your blocks all put together are stunning! I love the effect of the various shades of blue.

Kassaundra, I am going to have to try your method. And Jan, I appreciate the compliment. I have been wanting to use this fabric for a long time, and am really glad to have it for this project.

Edited to add: I'm ready for the March blocks. I am already thinking about how I want to put this together. I'm thinking some kind of Compass or Wheel for the center and then surround it with these blocks, probably on point. Now, the question is....Am I smart enough to put that concept into a quilt design? We shall see.

Those are great, Barb - I love the Paisley. The blocks look so pretty together. Your idea of setting them together sounds great - go for it. ;o)

I finished my blocks! Yeah! Yesterday, it dawned on me to check my HST drawer to see if I had any small blocks to cut down with the same background for the Barrister block. I saw the green with flowers and then remembered I had the rose colored HST's to cut down from a previous project. I was a happy camper! . The colors in this block are the same ones in my UFO bed quilt HST blocks.

Finally finished the February blocks both with my material and material out of the ugly box. I know without a doubt in my mind I will never do a quilt top all in the barrister's block. I don't think I have ever taken out so many stitches in my life in one block as I did in this one.

You are doing a great job with the 'ugly' box! They look marvelous! And your Barristers blocks are beautiful. It's a challenging one. I agree with not wanted to do a whole quilt with them! LOL! I do think, though, that I might change my mind for a whole quilt if the block was resized to be bigger!

Looking forward to March!
