Grandma Cow??? I'll have to try that flavor...although I do make a mean Margarita from scratch..Rose's Lime Juice is the key..:)
How do you get the corn off the cob? I've tried the contraption that slides over the ear but it didn't work well for me..there were more ears of corn sliding off the counter than I could count.! |

Grandma Cow...NC Grands started calling us that to designate we are the grandparents on the farm..DIL hesitant to use it:D; it's okay with us...
Cutting corn is a messy job...With a large bowl in my lap, I hold the ear in my left hand over the bowl, and wth a knife in the right hand cut the corn off the cob with a slight sawing motion moving the knife towards you...sitting down with a bowl in my lap works best for me...a sharp knife makes the cutting go faster.. DIL did most of the cutting as I blanch and cool and cut during the odd moments in between. 2 oldest girls did all the bagging...everyone shocked...oldest GS carried the cut cobs to the steers..today they are off for a last outing before school starts...we always did the same with ours... |
DM & I drove from Brady to Dime Box TX (East of Austin) yesterday to check on DGM's grave. Last March ti was horrible! In May DM & I had driven up there & she hired a guy to set up a concrete border all around both o' my DGP's & my DGGP's graves then add gravel over the top. Well it has rained so much in that part of TX that the guy wasn't able to get in there to do it till recently. He met us at the grave site at 2:00, we approved it & paid him. We then stopped & saw one of my DM's cousins. On the way down there we had encountered quite a bit of road construction so we came back a different way. It took a bit longer but was a nice drive. :) Got home (Brady) at about 11:00pm.

OK I love the name Grandma Cow. My DGK call us Grandma & Grandad Rudy. When they were little we had a Dalmatian named Rudy--that's how they knew us from their other grandparents because they were told they were visiting grandparents with Rudy. Since then we've had another dog (Patches) but the nickname stuck. It's funny when they introduce us to their friends they don't know what to call us LOL. We just laugh because their friends call us Mrs or Mr Rudy.
