Help! Baby shower 3 weeks..Mom wants red/blue with trucks.
#11
I wouldn't put that kind of pressure on myself, especially after undergoing chemo. (Hey, if the mother in law has been too sick to mail invitations, then would it be fair to say you have been too sick to make a quilt?) I would buy a baby bathtub and some onesies for the shower. And I would start making a quilt to be given later.

If I make a quilt for a baby shower, and the mother has indicated a theme and/or color palette, I look & see if I have something to match or coordinate, but if not I don't stress about it. First of all, I'm making a gift from me, not fulfilling a commission from the mom. Second, there are so many ways a quilt can be used outside of the nursery that if it doesn't match it doesn't matter. I should mention that I didn't get that interior design gene. My house is full of stuff that I love, but doesn't necessarily go together .

If you feel up to making a quilt I would use fabric with trucks rather than do fancy applique or piecing. I made a simple square in a square for my truck quilt Joann's has many different fabrics I think. Get well soon

I agree with the others about Warm Wishes. Trying to make a quilt start to finish in 3 weeks while undergoing chemo (or even when not undergoing chemo) is a huge task. Keep it simple.
If you really, really want to put a truck on it, I'd go with a whole cloth background & the simplest public domain image of a truck you can find ... and then machine applique the thing on. That's what I'd do since I have a harder time trying to cut out a gagillion little pieces & seam them together properly. Here's what I came up with. I would pick one thread color for the quilting and just do an all-over FMQ design to finish as quickly as possible

Here's the link to the truck image I used as the base. I simplified it to just have the red truck outline with layered grey & black pieces on top for windows, wheels & wheel covers (is that what they're called?). Honestly, I'm kinda in love with it & am now thinking that I want to make this quilt.

I love your EQ7 pattern MQ2... can you tell me what size it finishes up? I think it would be a great pattern to use a primary fabric (trucks for example)...
I also agree that Warm Wishes is an easy "go to" pattern.

Great way to use focus fabrics and turned out beautiful with not a great deal of cutting. I really like this one!
