I've heard some mention that they have their sewing in the dining room, bedroom, or a corner of the living room. But, who actually has an entire room designated as a sewing studio/room?

I do. It used to by my computer room/office, but I put my sewing machine on the desk and bought a lap top to use. My room is small, but I have room for a shelf for my fabric and I can leave my ironing board up. I even have a comfortable chair I can read in (and drape my quilts over).

I do because I'm so messy in my quilting. I needed a place where I could just shut the door when I'm finished for the day and not worry about tidying everything up. My husband finished a room that was a "bonus" room when we bought the house. There was no drywall or carpeting or finishing of any kind. It was almost like a second story attic. So he did the work to make it a real room.

One of the Spare guest rooms was converted to my sewing room. I get lots of natural light and it's on the main floor so when everyone is asleep I can still sew and not wake anyone on the top floor. I love the fact that I have my own room. I'm just trying to find a way to 'expand' it for more room. I'm a perfect example of.... "Give me an inch and I'll take a...." well in this case I'd love to knock the wall between the two spare bedrooms and make it one big room!! Yea that's not gonna happen :(. But one can dream. :)

I started out with the corner of the guest bedroom, moved to an extra bedroom and shared that with my hubby (sewing machine, cutting table, and two computers). I then got 2/3 of a closed in, detached garage. Now I have my dream. I have the entire upstairs game room. I call it the 'Eagle's Nest' and my husband calls it the 'Crow's Nest'. I love it.

I do. We used to live in a mobile home and I would sew on the dinning room/kitchen table. (same table lol) Several years ago we build our own house and DH designated the sapce above the garage as a studio for me. It is very big and I love it. I do have lots of visitors that also craft in there both my children and friends. there is also a tv and I have an adult son that uses it as his study room but i do not mind because I love the company. that is one thing from going to sitting smack in the center of the mobile home in the middle of 10 plus kids and then suddenly sitting in a giantic space by yourself. I am actually thinking about setting up a sewing area in my living room/kitchen area down stairs for when no one else is in the studio.
