2013 Quilt for Quilters Swap (Closed)
#381
I figured I better check in while the reading is still manageable. I am still in Oregon, might be here a while, might stay here! Oh how I wish I could talk my Husband into moving. I have lived in So Cal long enough, I want to come home! Oh well...So I am sewing about every other day. Mom get's tired easily so we work together packing her stuff and going through things. I know how hard this is for her so we go slow. The pictures take me back. We spend a lot of time going over the pictures. I asked my sister to bring her scanner over so I can scan them and let all the Sibs have copies of what they want! Mom is so afraid some one is going to steal them! So we eliminated that scare!
my Partner is giving me a great starting point, right now we are getting to know each other. I don't want to start on her quilt until I know I can devote some serious time to it!
Well have a wonderful week everyone~ I love the fabrics that you are all using. I can't wait to see the finished quilts.

Reminder:
This swap has a couple of really important requirements:
1. At least weekly, you need to be in touch with your partner. I don't care if it's through PM, email, text, phone, or weekly commutes to her sewing room. You need to be in touch. If I find out that's not happening, the non-responsive partner risks getting dumped from the swap. Sorry. This was a real problem with a few people last year and the QB admin insisted on this rule.
2. Monthly-- By the 15[SUP]th[/SUP] of each month (that was yesterday), each person sends me a PM letting me know how far along they are with their quilt for their partner. I suggest that you put a reminder in your calendar with the following text in it, which is what I need to hear from you:
o 100% complete and ready to be shipped!
o 90%: need to finish quilting and binding, then she’s ready for lift-off!
o 75%: sandwiched and about to quilt
o 50%: nearing completion of the top; about to sandwich
o 25%: fabric cut and piecing in progress
o 5-10%: know the design; have most of the fabric; dragging my feet getting started, but I WILL complete and be ready to ship THIS QUILT BY JULY 1 (2013)!
I don't want to be a policewoman, so please do your part. Thanks.

i think the gods have smiled on me for once--- probbaly not happen again in this lifetime but I'm grateful. After deciding on a pattern I started to make the templates i would need for this quilt only to realize that the pattern given had to have seam allowances added. My fat quarters ( a packet I had received as a gift almost a year ago) would be one piece short of the needed amount A frantic search at Hancock's and JoAnne's for fat quarters to match was not fruitful and i was desperately trying to determine alternative fabrics to use; but then I remembered I had seen a FQ packet at Mill Ends a couple weeks ago with the very fabrics i needed but would it still be there? My son humored my quest for a wild goose chase across town in search of these elusive fq's. The gods that be smiled upon me for a moment---long enough to grab that Fq packet (saleslady said there had only been two of them and I had just snagged the last one). better yet it was on sale for $6.99 --saving me $3.00.

Quiet day on the boards today, everyone must be sewing. I'm really liking the way Buddy'smom's blocks are turning out, I hope she likes them as much as me. She may have converted me into a fan of purple.
My local quilt shop was having a sale today, $4.50 per yard for all their fabric in the sale room , including all holiday fabric, and 50% off huge group of their pre-cuts. Lets just say I may be in trouble if my hubby checks the credit card bill too close. lol
Have a great night everyone!
