I know!!! If you're holed up avoiding zombies, you're going to need something like canned peaches to keep your spirits up! And the zombies don't like canned peaches, so you're good to go.
In all seriousness, my family has always canned and I began in earnest before Y2K. It never hurts to improve your skill set. Most of us have experienced economic fluctuations and if it ever comes to a choice between paying the mortgage or paying for ever-more-expensive groceries, I'm set. I don't know why, but when I have a full cupboard, I feel secure. Another personal consideration in canning is that I am not happy about GMO foods and since I harvest wild and heirloom foods, there are no worries. Between gardening, foraging, fishing, soap making and quilting ... it's like Little House on the Prairie in the suburbs around here!

Thought I'd drop in catch up here. Jaba, I hear you! I have MS also and I have moved 3x within two months (long story) and with the move and all I have tendinitis in my left arm. Went to the doc and he gave me a shot of cortisone. boy did that hurt! It has ceased some and he told me that so much movement with the arms of lifting and unpacking may have caused this. With the MS and humidity here in FL its unbearable! But I do keep hydrated and only leave the house on the weekends to go to Joanns and Starbucks! Everyone have a great labor day weekend and enjoy it! We all deserve it!

I work in the Chrysler Building should have stopped by to say hello I have been to the City Quilter once. It is a nice shop although I love the quaint country shops better. I also have the fabric with the subway map on it, but I haven't made anything with it. What do you plan on making with your NYC fabric? Maybe I will pull it out and figure out what to do with it. Glad you enjoyed your trip to NYC. I haven't seen the 911 memorial yet. Not sure if I am ready for that but I have seen pics and it is beautiful! Would love to see pics of your visit!
I was going to try to connect with K. but it didn't work out this time.

[QuiltNut4Ever, I really like that pattern you make for your Secret Pals. Remember me if you get my name and I'll be very happy]
I would be happy with it too.
I would be happy with anyone's canning-I don't have canning equipment. I did make jelly one year. Not much for habeneros( I did touch one to my lips once to see how hot they were as they were such a pretty color-big mistake) or other Hot peppers, I love peaches and all fruits. I love many kinds of candy ~and yes I'm in the I love black licorice camp.
I love your phrase antique teen, I'll have to go back and check if I remembered correctly.
This swap is really simple. But some over achievers do make it hard on themselves, I am sorry for you but for those who can go with the flow I hope you signed up. I am trying to make something to put in my sp's package. Had to start early to get it done. My luck the color will be the one color they don't like. Can't wait to see who I get. I'm sure Lori will give us a final count when she gets the distribution going.

K,
I read off your canning list to Tim and he is drooling
over your habanero and jalapeno hot sauce.
Personally I don't eat anything hotter than black pepper.
lol
