I am up to 35 crumb blocks and the garbage pail is full of snippets. Both the beige-yellow and the purple bags are almost empty. There is hope - one scrap at a time.

Today my Quilt Buddies finally got together--hadn't all summer. We tried the disappearing pinwheel. Like the outcomes but hate have to deal with all those bias edges. We put together 3 blocks and will finish off making a table runner. We dug from our stashes of course. One could just make HST's the regular way, but the finished pinwheel must be equally divisible by 3. May take some time and figure it out as we really liked the options. Instead of making a pinwheel make an hourglass block and you get another different looking quilt block.

Finally finding time to read the latest posts. Love the pics that have been posted lately. Martina..your scrappy quilt is great. I am making a backing from my stash and still working on it. Trying very hard to shop stash for rest of year but our guild is taking a road trip on the 30th to a quilt shop and getting a 15% discount. I will try to stay strong. Hope this thread continues for next year. It has really helped me and evidently some better than others. Who mentioned only buying 1 yard of fabric this year! Wow! I am bowing to you! Hang in there everyone..the wagon is still rolling along.

OK: Really like that block, thanks for the link. Sigh, yet another set of ideas that would be so much fun to make. Sandy: Who are these "others" you refer to? Looking around, see no "others" (just have to stay away from mirrors). Has anyone else noticed the renewed enthusiasm on the Board? Just another reason to love the Fall, I call it the beginning of quilting season.

Thought you might like to know that PaperPrincess posted a chart on 8-13-2014 listing the different sizes of hst needed for several square sizes that she worked up. Do a search for Disappearing Hourglass/Pinwheel Cutting Chart.

Thanks so much dottie dodge! I will check it out for sure. Last night did make a 12" version and loved how it went together once I got the large HST's made.

I made a couple samples of the disappearing hour glass in small sizes. They came out so cute!

Is the smallest size you sampled started with the 4 1/2 squares or did you try to go smaller?

Emma, I think you are right about renewed interest. I think I am finally done with trips for this year...at least anything longer than a day. Hoping I can visit the QB at least once a day from now on. Trying to concentrate on just getting one thing done at a time but all the other projects keep calling my name. Paper...thanks so much for that chart. You are a math whiz and I bow to you.
