I stopped by the LQS yesterday to buy some yardage (neutral) for the sashing of the Dresden Flower quilt that is in the works. Honestly, I did not have the right color in my stash. Also picked up some Steam-a-seam which I also need for that project.
Hope everyone's weekend is stress-free.

Update on the most recent purchase: I subcut the yardage into side seams and sashing and by the time all is done, I believe that I will have a 15"x 24" piece left. Not bad.

Martina: Good planning. The green backing fabric I purchased recently for my daughters quilt came out to close for comfort. I ended up with about five inches left over. Its actually pieced but in some ways that made it scarier because all the pieces were big and the strips were the width of the fabric. I thought I would have a sizable scrap left over. Think I goofed on the width of the fabric, somehow thought it was 118 inches and it was only 108.

Wow Emma..you scraped by ..by the skin of your teeth. I think that is one good reason to always buy "just a little bit more' than what is needed.

Emma, I understand. One time I couldn't balance the checkbook. DH had screwed up (math was never his strong suit). When I called him on it his answer was: But honey, I was only off by "1." Bad thing was the 1 carried 3 zeros.

Martina: The truly sad thing about making the kind of error I did was I was an accountant. There was a time I made by living via numbers. The old grey mare ain't what she used to be........!

I broke down and bought one snowman piece for my sister for Christmas. She loves cutesy things and snowmen are her favorite for winter. It is just a 1/4 yard but its the first thing I have purchased this year. Need blenders fiercely but trying to make due with what I have. wish me luck!

I am with you one hundred percent. I was an accountant as well and the numbers just don't act right any more.

I finished this top using colorful squares cut by my church quilting group and I cut the black from long black triangles that were donated to the group. They will turn it into a quilt now.
