Yes, it's a vintage card catalog cabinet from a library. I store all my thread, ribbon and small notions in the drawers. An amazing find at an antique mall many years ago.

All my blocks are done. Thought I was going to love this because the colors were fabulous. But I think this is going to be made into charity quilts. I really do not like it. And those of you who know me, know that I love love love scrappy! But to me, it's just a hot mess. Do you hear my sobbing?

I totally hear you Judy! I'm ready to scrap mine but am trying to persevere. My ADD is in overdrive trying to connect these squares. Maybe if I get a bit farther I will see the picture but right now all I can see are the magenta parts & the rest is all a jumble!

I'm loving all the pictures of quilts which have been completed or are in progress. It reminds me of Claude Monet's work, if you're too close to it, you can't see how beautiful it is. Try walking across the room and viewing from a distance. http://www.nga.gov/content/ngaweb/fe...t.html#slide_8

That is my problem, my sewing room is too small for me to get far enough away LOL! I have decided to give myself permission to not finish this year's mystery. I love the design but not my fabrics.

However, I already have several ideas of how to use the units in a couple of other projects, so I am still a happy Bonnie Hunter fan!

I felt that way about Grand Illusion. I got side tracked and never finished all the units, but the end quilt was way to busy for my eye. I loved that some quilters came up with a different layout. Maybe smaller blocks with a solid sashing? See what you can come up in a different setting. Make it YOURS...

I agree, Quilting Vagabond. It is so busy, and I don't as yet see the point of the hourglass blocks with the yellow. Is everyone using Bonnie's pressing plan? It seems backwards to me, so I'm doing it the opposite way. Also, I'm assembling each block with the borders attached before I sew the blocks together. I have 4 blocks done and am now working on the borders for them and will then sew them into the top row. I don't like the idea of handling a long, skinny strip and sewing it to a huge quilt center.

That's how I am making up my blocks and sashing too, Leslie. The yellow hourglasses made no sense to me either, so I replaced them with more tri-rec triangle units. I really like the way it flows now! Maybe try it and see?

It makes sense to add the borders as you go along. Maybe I'll do that, too.

I was confused about the yellow QST units, too. I spent an entire day experimenting and tried all sorts of different substitutions for that unit, which gave me an understanding of its function. I believe the unit is about connecting the blocks to one another for flow (the purple 4-patch), but also creating a separation (the green and yellow), because when the blocks are entirely connected using all purple, they look very massive and you lose the circular effect. The green and yellow also liven things up amidst all of that purple.
