Fat Quarter Ripe-off
#121
I also don't choose Jo Ann's as my first fabric choice because the quality of their fabric is worse than what I used to get at Walmart. And I knew that Walmart was end runs, but it was still OK. I buy my quilting thimbles there w/ a coupon. The last piece of fabric that i got was because a friend needed it for backing on a quilt. It was so wrinkled and crooked that i had to iron it before even starting and it was thinner than my oldest quilt muslin...
I started getting their fliers again...I wondering if they are trying to lure people back????

So, what about the other other end of the spectrum? As ewecansew posited, do you run back to the store to give them back any extra fabric they might have given you in an overcut? Or, in that case is it okay to say it's their fault I'll just keep it?
I disagree. Measuring IS an exact science. By definition!
Yes we can all make a mistake, but most of us do not seek to sell our mistakes to others for a profit. You seem to think it is OK to do so?
Business should not get away with taking money under false pretences, even if this happens because of poor quality control, rather than intent to defraud.

Politely tell them that you would like a refund and an explanation as to WHy they were crooked and shorter than a standard FQ! Be sure to tell them that this explanation will then be shared online with your social network of over 10,000 other quilter's and potential Joann shoppers!

Hi, Becca!
I might go in to see what they have, but I'll be very careful before I buy anything. I've been getting ads on my computer from them, but I still haven't gone into the store. I like to get my money's worth. One lady told me all the fat quarters she bought at joann's were bigger than necessary and had no loss in them.
What kind of material do you buy for your quilts?

Hi, Dixiechunk!
Depending on how far I traveled to get it, I might take it back and offer to pay for the extra inches I received. I wouldn't want the piece re-cut The price per yard is usually on it, and the difference can be figured out.
